Design album and branding package for a conceptual debut musical artist including vinyl record sleeve, label, press kit, and merchandise. The concept created featured the fictional Holly Mars; an Indie Folk-Pop singer and songwriter whose debut album ‘Solitude’ looked to be a beacon to those feeling lost or alone. The word ‘solitude’ implies a distance, but the definition can be positive or negative depending on one’s experience. The album looks to encourage listeners to embrace this feeling of disorientation as a strength; though one may feel they are floating in an abyss with no destination does not mean there isn’t one, it just has not yet been discovered.
The final design solution needed to prioritize the sentiment of the album itself. Finding a visual balance between chaos and structure embodies the feeling of disorientation while keeping it controlled. A collage method allows elements play off of each other in a seemingly chaotic way, but strategic alignment, proximity, and a visual hierarchy create a sense of togetherness.↑
