Project
Brief

Holly Mars is a conceptual Indie Folk-Pop singer and songwriter. An album sleeve, label, marketing package, and merchandise were needed for Holly Mars’ debut album, Solitude. Solitude looks to be a beacon to those feeling lost or alone. The word ‘solitude’ implies a distance, but the definition can be positive or negative depending on one’s experience. The album looks to encourage listeners to embrace this feeling of disorientation as a strength; though one may feel they are floating in an abyss with no destination it does not mean there isn’t one, it just has not yet been discovered.

Project
Outcome

The final design solution needed to prioritize the sentiment of the album itself. Finding a visual balance between chaos and structure embodies the feeling of disorientation while keeping it controlled. A collage technique allows elements to play off of each other in a seemingly chaotic way, but strategic alignment, proximity, and a visual hierarchy create a sense of togetherness. The design precedents set within the album cover itself were further curated to the press kit and merchandise products to provide a cohesive overall identity with flexible variations.

On another note… I’d love to hear from you!
